We have recently completed a project to supply & install the replacement emergency lighting to the escape stairs at the 200m high HSBC Tower, Canary Wharf; the HSBC Group Head Office. Following an initial investigative survey & sample installation, work commenced, in earnest, in January 2014. The work consisted the replacement of fittings to the emergency escape staircases - 3 of which rise 25 floors, & two of which rise the full 45 floors (42 above ground); thereafter the works moved to car parking areas, with completion achieved in May.
As a direct result of a high level of service, both Winters & our Client (Overbury plc) have secured the works to upgrade & replace the lighting & lighting controls to the whole of the Tower, numbering circa 26,000 fittings in total.
All of the works have to be undertaken with extreme care in terms not only of programming & quality, but also customer care, as the building is a live environment, effectively in operation 24 hours a day. Our operatives have to work around HSBC employees, ensuring that all areas are kept clean, tidy, &, most importantly, safe. The smooth running, achievement of programme, & ultimately successful completion of the project will be largely based upon the relationship between contractor & occupier.
